Disadvantages of a jogging stroller

Disadvantages of a jogging stroller

I’m sure many moms thinking about buying a jogging stroller have read all the pros, cons and benefits. They know that this is a good investment for them to make. Then they read all the disadvantages and are left thinking if they really should purchase one at all. It can seem like there are so many disadvantages of a jogging stroller that it’s hard to believe there are any advantages at all. And of course, most moms just quickly decide against buying a jogging stroller for infants under 6 months.

Doesn’t provide the independence

One of the biggest disadvantages of a jogging stroller is the fact that they don’t provide the independence for the children that most parents want their children to have. A jogging stroller allows you to move faster than you might otherwise be able to. In general, the people who use them often don’t go very fast. There are some that are made specifically for running and other activities that involve speed, but they don’t do well on flat terrain.

The weight

Another disadvantage of this stroller is its weight. Usually, they are rather heavy. Most parents aren’t prepared to carry this type of weight on their backs all the time. This is especially true if the child has a lot of movement or even gets older. The added weight just adds to the cost and hassle of using it. Some parents also worry that they won’t be able to manoeuvre the stroller easily or that they will drop it and hurt themselves.

How well made

Another thing to consider is how well made the stroller is. You can get a used model with a good warranty, but that’s not necessarily going to mean much in the way of quality. It’s also important to consider if the stroller is sturdy enough to handle the abuse that a child can dish out. If the stroller doesn’t have any kind of suspension or is too flimsy, then it’s likely that you will end up with many broken parts as a result of constant use.

Fairly durable

On the plus side, a jogging stroller is fairly durable and stands up to most conditions. It’s also fairly easy to fold and store away when not in use. It does have one real disadvantage and that is the fact that there isn’t a cover. That means that rain and other natural disasters aren’t going to be avoided. This is especially true if your child will be outside a lot as they will get wet from rain or even worse, run into a tree.

Also available for indoor

A lot of people feel that strollers made for outdoors are great and would never consider buying one for their own use. But what about those who spend so much time inside? A lot of people don’t realize that these strollers are also available for indoor use. These strollers can be used in place of a standard crib for newborns or older kids who still need a sleeping space. This way you will be getting the same level of comfort and safety that a crib offers, and you can also get the same convenience.

Freedom of choosing the speed

The disadvantage of a jogging stroller is that it doesn’t allow you the freedom of choosing the speed at which you like to travel. There is really only one way to go. So it’s best to be aware of that when you make your purchase. A manual model is the slowest, but it does offer a level of control over how fast you go. An automatic stroller is very speedy and feels almost like a vehicle. Choose the one that works best for you!

Two basic varieties

These two strollers come in two basic varieties, with one being more expensive than the other. If cost is an issue, then the manual model will be your best bet. An automatic stroller is ideal for anyone who will want the convenience of a jogging stroller. While a manual one is a perfect solution for those who don’t have a lot of extra money to spend. Both of these strollers are available on Amazon and other retailers.
