Books: “My Psycho Baby Daddy”
For many people, writing has always been one of their favorite things in the world. They love to tell stories throughout their life and express themselves through their fingertips – or on the keyboard, as it is for most writers. This can make it difficult when you start receiving rejections after publishing your work and querying agents who don’t show interest. In this article, Quan Millz Books discusses how to change up your approach if you want more success than waiting tables can offer!
Meet the author
Lindsey is a mom of two kids, ages ten and six. Her eldest was conceived through IVF after years of trying to conceive naturally. Lindsey’s second child was a surprise, and she believes that her psycho baby daddy is responsible.
After a year of being with her psycho baby daddy, Lindsey decided it was time to end the relationship. She had been keeping all of this bottled up for so long- afraid to lose her children and afraid of how people wouldreact- that she didn’t know how to handle the ending herself. It was incredibly difficult, but she’s finally starting to rebuild her life. In this memoir, Lindsey shares her story of love, loss, and moving on.

Old THOT Next Door by Quan Millz
While scrolling through my Twitter feed on a lazy Sunday afternoon, I came across a tweet from the artist and writer Quan Millz about her new book “Old THOT Next Door.” Intrigued by the title, I clicked the link and was immediately drawn in by the racially charged and explicit content. The book chronicles Millz’s experiences as a young woman living next door to an old hag who befriends her, introduces her to drugs, and eventually bedazzles her with designer clothes, diamonds, and other luxurious items.
At first glance, it seems like a sinister storybook filled with tales of abuse and exploitation. However, upon closer inspection it becomes evident that Millz is using the old hag as a metaphor for white privilege and systemic racism. In chapter after cruelly satirical chapter, she toys with our prejudices while poking fun at our biases. For example, in one passage she describes how the old hag loves to berate black people but cannot handle criticism of herself: “‘Don’t you know anything? Do you not know that it is rude to talk back to someone older?’ The way she said it made me feel like should’ve known better than to speak up. But what could I say when she was spouting off those kinds of nonsense?”
Millz’s wit shines through in every page of this provocative memoir, which is sure to spark heated debates among readers about race relations

How long did it take to write this book?
In January of 2016, I published my first novel, “My Psycho Baby Daddy.” It took me over a year to write the novel, and during that time I experienced a lot of highs and lows. This book is based on my own personal experiences as well as the stories of other women who have been in relationships with men who are emotionally abusive.
As someone who has dealt with emotional abuse for most of my life, it was important for me to share my story with others in order to help them know that they are not alone. Writing this book was incredibly therapeutic for me; it allowed me to process all of the emotions that I had been holding back for so many years.
During the writing process, there were times when it felt impossible to continue editing and formatting the manuscript. However, I persevered because I knew that this book was important. After all, emotional abuse is one of the most silent forms of violence out there, and it needs to be spoken about more often in order to make progress towards eradicating it from our society.
Overall, writing this book was an incredibly rewarding experience for me. It made me feel connected to other women who have been through similar experiences, and it gave me hope for the future.
