The tractor is an automated vehicle manufactured with many parts like a Urea tank, shaft system for PTO, traction controller, wheels, steering, etc. So to make you feel the importance of these tractor parts, we came up with this blog regarding them. Horn/Buzzer

An air horn/buzzer sound alerts other drivers to an emergency, such as approaching vehicles from opposite directions at high speed or overloaded conditions, so they do not collide with your tractor at high speed. This horn is primarily used in large tractors such as combine harvesters, commonly driven on roads while transporting produce from rural farms to cities.

Urea Tank Gauge/Indicator

Urea tanks are primarily used as fertiliser during agricultural activities when spread evenly on farms using mechanical sprayers with pressure capacities of up to 3500 psi. This pressure should not exceed the 2000 psi limit during the filling process, or else the Urea may be damaged due to excess heat while cooling after the compression process while filling inside the urea tank. Some tractors like New Holland 3630 and others have this feature to keep operation smooth. 

PTO Shaft System

This shaft is linked to the rear wheels, which rotate at the same speed as the engine. The entire rotating part of the PTO is known as the “power take-off system,” and it determines how much power the engine can produce based on whether it rotates clockwise or anticlockwise. As a result, different tractors typically have different speed ranges, such as 1500 rpm – 1000 rpm for minimum output and 2500 rpm – 3000 rpm for maximum output, to handle heavy loads without issue. Because these speeds are limited in tractors, the power generated by the engine can be distributed to various parts of the vehicle, such as the steering wheel or front axle.

Traction Control

This system is used to control the speed of the rear wheels while travelling on the road surface, and it is most commonly found on large tractors that are driven at high speeds. This system monitors the traction between the tyres and the road surface, and if a gap is detected, traction is automatically increased using special plates known as “traction plates” attached to the rear wheels. So that tractors do not deviate from the road surface while driving at high speeds.

Final Drive

This system is used to transmit the power of the PTO shaft either directly through axles or various gears. This final drive system consists of the “main gear” inside it, which applies pressure to the smaller “pinion gear” attached to the rear axle, preventing tractors from being damaged by high-speed driving conditions. 

Wheels

Tractors typically have two types of wheels: steering wheels and rear wheels. The steering wheel is directly attached to the front axle and rotates, providing power to the rear tyres for the tractor’s forward motion. On the other hand, rear wheels are connected via the final drive system via a PTO shaft and a differential unit, allowing tractors to rotate them. This rotation will enable them to turn to the side while travelling on roads or in rough fields. You can see the quality wheels in some quality tractors like Swaraj 963 FE and others. 

System of Power Steering

Using this mechanism, the steering wheel can be controlled. It makes handling the tractor easier than maintaining other mechanised vehicles such as cars or trucks. Because these tractors are typically driven on highways while transporting produce and crops. They require more steering control than vehicles driven on roads, the majority of which are now operated by foot controls. As a result, tractors are equipped with power-assisted steering systems that allow easy rotation to the left or right while driving, utilising the engine’s power to complete the task.

Power Brakes

Tractors are built for heavy-duty operations, requiring an extra-strong braking system for easy control in emergencies. These vehicles are driven with foot controls because, while power-assisted steering systems are now available. they are still operated manually depending on the driver’s preferences and the manufacturer. As a result, the brake pedal used here is more robust than that of most other mechanised vehicles. It is allowing them to quickly stop by applying pressure to it while driving at high speeds.

Chassis

Tractor chassis come in various sizes, ranging from small to large, depending on the type of tractor. These dimensions determine whether the tractor will be driven manually or with a power-assisted steering system. 

Smaller tractors covering less distance on roadways only require foot controls. It is to be easily controlled even when turning smoothly during high-speed highway drives. Larger tractors, such as combine harvesters, require power-assisted steering systems due to their large size and longer distance travelled.

Hitch System and Hydraulic Control

Tractors are typically used for heavy-duty operations, so they must have solid hydraulic controls. It provides the required amount of force at any point in time during the process. In addition, most tractors have a four-point hitching system that allows farmers to attach various implements depending on the job.

This hitch allows a tractor equipped with a front-mounted loader”. It is by simply changing the angle between the ground and its attachment arm, as shown below.

Instead of following fixed routes on roadways, these hitching systems allow drivers to choose their path while performing operations. In addition, tractors can quickly complete a wide range of agricultural tasks due to the availability of multiple attachments. These are attached to these hitches, such as ploughing, sowing seeds, fertilising, watering crops, and much more.

Mechanism for Hauling

Tractors typically include a Front End Loader as a hauling mechanism for quickly transporting implements from one location to another. These loaders are robust and can be used for various tasks such as lifting heavy objects. It can load material onto a tractor’s trailer or protect the materials from heavy rains using its roof” structure. 

Specialised tractors provide this type of loader with a PTO-driven hydraulics system for different power transmissions. This attachment enables operators to use hydraulic controls instead of manual controls to complete more tasks with less effort.

Tractor Pulley 

These PTO-powered hydraulics are best suited for lifting and transferring force from the ground to implement. They are equipped with steel cables connecting the driver’s seat to a pulley on the tractor’s front end. When the driver wants to use these attachments to lift something. Then he presses the lever on his seat, and hydraulic motors begin transferring force through the cables attached. Because of this feature, operators can control load in both vertical and horizontal directions depending on the situation, making them far more efficient than traditional cranes used by construction workers or agricultural workers.
