Hampta Pass Trek, Himachal Pradesh

The popular Hampta Pass Trek is of around 35 km, starts from village Hampta in the Kullu Valley and finishes at Chatru in the Lahaul and Spiti Valley. With the highest altitude being 4400 m, the duration of Hampta Pass is of around 4 to 5 days. It is an ideal option for you if this is going to be your first high-altitude trek. The scenery and experiences are both breathtaking and unforgettable respectively. You walk past snow-strewn valleys, floral meadows, crystal clear water streams, dense deodar forests, Himalayan avifauna and finally ending by walking through barren lands of Lahaul-Spiti. The trek also includes a night camp stay at ChandraTal.

Chokramudi Trek, Kerala

Chokramudi trek in Munnar, Kerala has tea estates, high-altitude forests, hills and rivers along with mist-clad ambiance, offering an excellent sight, with a duration of 5 to 7 hours. This is a wonderful trek for those trekkers who don’t have ample free time but wish to experience the best scenery of hill town. The initial point of the trek is near the Chokramudi Mountain. The views of the highest peak of the Western Ghats and Anamudi are matchless. This trek has another attraction that is the Idukki Dam, one of the highest arch dams in Asia. 2100 m. is the highest point in Chokramudi trek.

Sandakphu Trek, West Bengal

Sandakphu is in West Bengal and is the highest point in the state known as ‘Trekker’s Wonderland’. Savor wonderful views of peaks like Mt. Everest,Lhotse and Makalu, Kanchenjunga, from an altitude of around 11,500 feet. One can cover the trek in a span of 8 to 9 days as it is around 45 km. This trek has one of the highlights of colorful flora including orchids, ferns and magnolias. Another attraction of this trek is the Kalapokhri which is also known as Black Pond, considered holy by Buddhists. Walk past the popular Valley of Poison, which is called Bikhey Bhanjyang. It is called a poisonous flower- Aconite grows here.

Dzongri Trek, Sikkim

Sikkim is the best place for trekking in India by embarking on a 5-day Dzongri trek, ranging from easy to moderate difficulty levels. The starting and ending point of Dzongri trek is Yuksom because one covers a distance of 21 km, with 15,000 feet of altitude. When you have a short time in your hands and want to experience the best Himalayan views including Dzongri La peak and Mt. Kanchendzonga, this expedition takes you through Tshokha, Saachen, Kanchenjunga National Park, Bakkhim, a number of hanging bridges and gushing waterfalls with white and red rhododendron flowers. This high-altitude trek needs a day for acclimatization.

Rajmachi Trek, Maharashtra

There are a variety of trekking places in India for beginners. However, Maharashtra is also included in the list. Rajmachi is in the same state, located at a distance of around 15 km from Lonavala. The average duration of this trek is one day. The highest altitude of the trek is 3000 feet above sea level. 14 km is the distance of this trek and the base camp is Udhewadi. One gets a chance to explore Manaranjan and Shrivardhan fortts. These forts offer wonderful views of the valley. Rajmachi Fort is the best site which is a 17th century structure by Shivaji. You walk past dense forests on either side, along with temples, waterfalls, temples and ancient Buddhist caves. Karjat and Lonavala are the two routes from which this trek can be completed. The trail is well- marked so it doesn’t need a guide.
