Have you guys ever wondered where the clothes we ended up buying from the mall came from? Not that process where we go to the mall, enter different shops, look for clothes, choose the one we like, go on the cashier’s side, pay for the clothes, bring it home and lastly wear it. It is the process or thing we do!
But how these clothes are made from raw material to product? They have gone through different steps, and the Textile Industry does all these steps. Here in this blog, we are going to talk about the journey of clothes. But before we go further, let’s see what the Textile industry is and what they do.
Textile Industry:
The textile industry is the one that converts the raw material into a product. Products like blankets, curtains, apparel, home textiles, etc., are being made by the textile industry. Textile industries use both natural and synthetic fiber for the final product. The raw material has to go through a different process to achieve that product.
Pakistan’s textile industry contributes to 70% of the country’s exports, and we still do have many Apparel manufacturers in Pakistan. So we can’t deny the importance of the clothes and textile industry. The textile industry is primarily linked with the fabric’s design, production, and dyeing.
Companies use these products to live and sell their products to every-sized companies and make their living. The textile industry is thriving day by day in the realm of many businesses. But it is pivotal to understand how the clothes have come into existence from raw material. Let’s discuss how Clothes are made through different Steps in the textile industry.
Different Steps of Manufacturing the Clothes in the Textile Industry:
Below are different steps in the textile industry to manufacture the clothes:
- Yarn production
- Fabric manufacturing
- Wet processing
- Garments manufacturing
1-Yarn Production
In this Manufacturing, fiber is converted into yarn. It includes many steps: blending, mixing, cleaning, carding, drawing, roving, and spinning. Yarn manufacturing is the first step of the textile industry. Let’s go through each process:
- Blending and mixing: The fiber is straightened out using a mixing and blending machine.
- Carding: The unknot fiber is fed into the carding machine to remove dust or any short fiber.
- Drawing: Here, the fiber has been extended, and uneven thickness has been removed.
- Roving: The fiber has been extended further to obtain a green yarn.
- Spinning: This is the last process. To get the desired thickness of fiber, it is further twisted.
2-Fabric Manufacturing
Fabric is the main step in the textile industry. Fabric manufacturers use many methods, but the most common are weaving and Knitting. After the yarn is prepared, the real magic happens here. Before evolution, people used looms for this process. Over time, as we evolve, we use modern looms, but they did the same work as the ancient ones. In fabric manufacturing, Knitting is the second most used method. The demand for knitting fabric has increased in recent years. It ranges from sweaters, coats, underwear, and many more. They are high in the market!
3-Wet processing
This process is the most important one, and it is just like doing makeup and enhancing the overall appearance of the fabric look by adding colors. It includes a few stages like dying, finishing, and many more. They used machines like winch dyeing, J-box, Jet, etc., for the process.
- DE sizing: Here, the sizing material has been removed.
- Bleaching: Natural color of fiber is removed here.
- Washing: The fiber is washed to wash any textile material.
- Dyeing: To get a uniform colored fabric, dyeing is done.
4-Garments Manufacturing
Designing, cutting, sewing, washing, and many more are the steps that are being done in garments manufacturing. It is the last process of the textile industry where the raw material that has been converted into a fabric gets a specific look. Fabric-like knit weaving has been used in different factories to produce clothes, and to do that, sewing machines of different kinds like lockstitch sewing machines, chain stitch sewing machines, etc., are used in it. After sewing, the garments packaging and ironing are done in Garment Company. They also check the quality of garments and do some testing things to ensure quality. And in the end, the garment is being shipped to their buyer. It is primarily the process of all the garments manufacturers in Pakistan.
To Wrap It Up
You have to know the clothes we buy within a few hours are made after such a lengthy process from the above steps. These steps are being followed from ancient times, but over time, we change them, but the main working and steps are the same.
