Digital product challenge
Digital product challenge. A digital product is your website, online store, social media account. It’s a product that can access and interacted with digitally.
What is a digital product challenge and sample?
Digital product samples in this article
Below is a list of product examples. These are just samples. I’m not suggesting you should turn them into a reality but they’re an excellent place to start. Some relate to digital products, some relate to traditional products. Some are cross-industry and some are very specific to the UK. Your business will have a different set of requirements. But hopefully you’ll find something that works for what you need. Please let me know if there’s another equivalent product or category that you would recommend too.
Digital Product Challenge as online dating site
People are finding partners online more frequently and they like to research. And compare their options in the same way we do with other services (i.e. financial or travel insurance etc.). An online dating site would be full of rich, interactive content from blogs to videos. There is a great need for information and the site would need to keep up-to-date. With their market research too. So there would be a lot of content produce in different ways for this product.
Clothing retail
A clothing retail business could sell products through a strong “digital presence” on their site or social media accounts, as well as doing traditional marketing offline such as at events or in print advertising. The product would be e-commerce so the business could use their website to create and manage it. The key is to ensure the site is up-to-date with their products and images as well as with general customer service advice which can be found all over the site. Users will expect to find content, reviews, articles, videos etc. all on one page so they can find exactly what they need quickly. This can help them save time and be more efficient by searching and referencing back to related pages on your website or social media accounts.
BSP (B2B SME-to-SME) content
Are you selling to another business? Pay attention! You can provide your products or services via digital products. The skills or knowledge you have can be packaged up in an online and/or digital format that is easy to consume for your customers. If I was selling a product or service for £100, I could sell it directly to the customer for £100+VAT, but I could also sell it to a business at £500+VAT. That business could then sell it to another business at £1000+VAT, which is a lot more than what I originally sold it for. Imagine if the product is worth £10,000 or even more. The opportunities are endless.
Podcast
A podcast is an audio or video file you can listen to online or on your phone when you’re commuting or travelling somewhere. They’re used by pod-casters on social media and their website to promote their brand and also give interviews on topics that help them rank higher in Google’s search results.
Online learning
Some businesses are already delivering content online. For example, if your business offers training to its customers or employees on customer service, human resources or accounting you could produce a comprehensive e-learning course that can be accessed online or downloaded for offline use.
Women swear retailer
Like clothes retail, this business could have a digital presence and digital product. I would recommend the website should be kept up to date and organized so it’s easy for users to find the information they need quickly either by searching or by reference back to related pages on your website or social media accounts. The business should also provide a product catalog that is full of rich interactive content so users can easily find what they want and visually preview before purchasing.
Digital health
This might appear to be an odd one but it doesn’t necessarily have to relate to your business. I’ve come across a few businesses that use an online product for digital health and well being such as weight loss or fitness. There are a lot of digital products on these topics but I don’t think they necessarily need to be connected to your business, they are more popular than ever before and there’s room for completely new kinds of businesses that target this undeserved market.
