Brace Price Penang is the most cheapest?
So you’ve chosen to straighten your teeth and are researching braces rates in Malaysia. It’s OK — I’ve been there, and yeah, it was well worth it for me. I performed some research on braces prices in Malaysia, primarily for the braces price penang , since I was cost-conscious.
In this piece, I’ll tell you what I found out, as well as the extra fees I’ll be incurring as a result of my braces (2017-2019). I’ll go through the cost of braces for traditional braces, Damon braces, transparent aligners, and the lowest braces option of all: government hospitals.
The pricing for braces in this post are based on a price list I obtained from a dentist and inquiries I made both online and offline. Prices vary depending on specialisation, location, and other criteria (but don’t choose your dentist only on the basis of price – see the last section).
#1 – Price of traditional braces / metal braces in Malaysia
What it entails: Braces with elastic bands to keep the wire in place. This is the most common choice; traditional braces are the most cost-effective alternative.
Total cost: RM5,000++ for a GP | RM8,000-10,000 for a specialist | RM500-RM2500 for a government dental clinic (varies; see below)
Malaysia’s Government Dental Clinic offers low-cost braces.
In Malaysia, you can receive very inexpensive braces by attending to government facilities, however they only provide traditional braces, according to comments. The savings are enormous, but there is a catch:
(1) Eligibility – You may or may not be eligible.
(2) Waiting time – Even if you qualify, you may have to wait a long period to get it.
(3) appointment scheduling – many say clinic appointments are inconvenient, particularly for those who are in school or have to adhere to office hours.
The following are the processes to apply for government-funded braces:
- Do a dental checkup at any government-run dental facility.
- To schedule an appointment with Klinik Pakar Orthodontik, you must first get a referral letter.
- Wait for the appointment date to arrive.
- If you are approved, they will advise you on the following steps to installing your braces after the examination.

Please see the comments section for first-hand stories from folks who received their traditional braces via government hospital alternatives for additional information. Some paid RM500, while others spent RM2500 and waited months, if not years.
Important: As far as I’m aware, the government dental facility only offers traditional metal braces, neither Damon braces or clear aligners.
#2 – The cost of Damon Braces in Malaysia (Metal braces and Ceramic braces)
What it entails: Metal or ceramic bracing with a’slide mechanism’ for holding the wire in place. Self-ligating braces, or self-lig, are another name for Damon braces.
Damon metal braces (silver) and Damon ceramic braces are two forms of self-ligating braces (white).
GP – RM7,000-9,000 | Specialist – RM12,000++ (Damon ceramic braces): add a few thousand to that (Damon metal braces)
This was suggested to me by my dentist. She said, ”
- Damon braces will give me quicker results than traditional braces (my took 1.5 years to complete).
- Braces that be less painful than traditional braces (still pain tho)
- Normally, teeth extraction is not required (this does not apply to me, since I had to withdraw four teeth).
For metal Damon braces, I was paid RM8,500. Installing braces, adjusting them every 4-5 weeks, and wearing retainers are all included with this price.
(As a side note, I wanted ceramic braces since they’re white and won’t show up as much, but my dentist recommended against it because they stain easily.) So if you drink coffee or eat curry/gulai on a daily basis – both of which I do – ceramic braces aren’t for you.)
The dentist determines what is included in the braces packages. The elastic band and tooth wax were complimentary for me, however the teeth extraction and x-ray were not; they were paid separately.
I didn’t pay the whole money up front – the deposit was RM3,000, and I paid RM300 each month for 18 months — I believe the dentist planned the payments to conclude about at the same time as your braces trip.
Friends and relatives tell me that the deposit+monthly payment scheme is fairly prevalent among them, so you may anticipate the same.
#3 – The cost of clear aligners in Malaysia (Clear braces or Invisible braces)
What it is: Clear braces, often known as invisible braces, are a set of ten or so retainers that you must wear continuously; each set straightens your teeth somewhat more than the previous one. Clearpath, Invisalign, Zenyum, and other ‘brand names’ are examples.
The price range is between RM15,000 and RM20,000 (!!!). Originally, I had intended to wear transparent braces for cosmetic reasons. But at that price, who can say no? There’s no way.
UPDATE: A business named Zenyum offers a less expensive alternative for these invisible braces – Zenyum Invisible Braces cost RM5,599 for light instances and up to RM9,999 for difficult situations, according to the website. To learn more, go to the website and get a free evaluation.
My braces journey: The cost of braces
So I told you about my Damon metal braces, which cost me RM8,500. That wasn’t the only fee I had to pay; there were other expenses as well. This braces trip cost me almost RM10,000 in total. The price includes the following items:
- Damon takes a deep breath and prepares himself.
- Retainers for braces
- Scaling
- Extraction of teeth
- Painkillers
- Waterflosser
My best recommendation for saving money on braces in Malaysia is to choose a trustworthy dentist who is handy for you to see since you will be visiting them often (once a month or so) for tightening, monitoring, and checkups.
I was fortunate and found a dentist within walking distance, which allowed me to keep my work (or, in your case, school) schedule and save money on transportation.
Overall, I am overjoyed that I had braces. The cost was high, but it significantly increased my self-esteem.
Finally, I wish everyone the best of luck with their braces — I believe this is a perfect time to get them since everyone is wearing a mask. Please post a comment with the costs your dentist (and what location) is charging you, as well as the details of their braces package, so that the rest of us may benefit from the information.
